AB STEAM Student Hackathon

Calling all Students and Residents interested in acting locally to help reduce the impacts of flooding:
Enter the Hack-A-Thon

Problem to Solve: How can we reduce flooding and the impacts of flooding in Acton in a way that is economical, sustainable, and socially and environmentally friendly?

Are you a problem solver? Interested in environmental science and sustainability? Join a Team or Create your own Team to develop strategies to reduce flooding and earn community service hours in the process.

Dates: August 19, 2025 – February 2026

August 19 from 4:00-6:00pm   

Come early (between 4:00 and 5:00pm) for a Meet + Greet at Gardner Field in West Acton for information and FREE ice cream. At 5:00pm, we will start the guided walking tour of flood prone areas led by the Town of Acton office of Conservation and Sustainability with the support of ABSTEAM.org. FREE ice cream from West Side Creamery for all student and adult volunteers before or after this event.

Also, there is a fundraiser at West Side Creamery benefitting ABSTEAM.org that day.

AB STEAM, with help from Integral Charitable Foundation, is working with Town of Acton Sustainability Office & Acton Conservation Division in partnership with EnergizeActon.org and the local community to develop strategies to reduce flooding.
